American Denial: A Conversation about Implicit Bias

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.
This session provides an opportunity for those who during the lunch break viewed the film, American Denial, to discuss in small groups how we assiduously blind ourselves to recognizing racial injustices -- unconscious bias, bigotry, prejudice, and their long, dark consequences -- and examine the ways in which we deny or rationalize biases and practices that violate our bedrock beliefs and the historic and contemporary consequences of that denial. Participants are encouraged to take the Project Implicit Social Attitudes "Race" test before arriving for this workshop. A testing area has been established on site, or you can do so from any smart device with internet connectivity. The test will take about 10 minutes to complete.
If you are taking the test on your own device, use the link and instructions below:
https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/
1. In the box on the left titled, "Project Implicit Social Attitudes", select your language and click on the orange "Go!" button.
2. After reading the "Preliminary Information" and consenting, click on the "I wish to proceed" hyperlink.
3. A menu of tests will appear. Select the "Race IAT" button and the test will commence.
